Never knew there was a SS 627 with a checkered topstrap. Do they all have it? I have [email protected] $ If you say yes $ feel $ .I have a PC 627 (definitely a different beast) and have always wanted to test the topstrap like the old blued model with the rib.I think it's a really nice touch and adds a lot to the gun to me.

This isn't a Smith & Wesson forum but it's no fun when a thread like this comes up about revolver aesthetics, almost universally its the S&W revolver that claims the most votes. They are simply beautifully designed revolvers and the plethora of models they produce share all the key styling cues that make them instantly recognizable. Sure, there are diehard Snake gun fans but I can take them or leave them except for the 4" royal blued model. What's their other one, the Trooper? Sure they're decent looking guns but I've yet to see a Trooper forum anywhere. Detective Special? Nope. Most Colts are out of most people's budgets. Looks out of place but most people will be able to appreciate them if they aren't.S&Ws are normal looking guns.

Thanks !Both the 627-0 and 627-1 have the upper straps on the pattern 27. Like checkered. This is a relatively rare pattern. About 4,500+ of them. /- I think they did. It was a lot of fun to shoot!

Heritage Rough Rider Small Bore 22 Long Rifle 6.5in Blued Revolver
Smith & Wesson was one of the first gun manufacturers to sell firearms chambered in .357 Magnum, being on the original design team for the round. The Model 27 debuted in 1935 and, despite being born in the Great Depression, was an instant hit, with an average wait time of four years for customers to receive the revolver.
83 years later, the Model 27 is still in production. Smith & Wesson produced the Model 27 with various barrel lengths from four inches to ten-five-eighths, but the rest of the revolver was almost identical. (If anything, the revolver is better able to handle the "new" high-pressure +P ammunition.) Today's Model 27 has a four-inch barrel, but is still very similar in design and performance. 27 has a six-round cylinder, an overall length of 9.3 inches and a weight of 42 ounces. It is manufactured from carbon steel with a blue finish.
The Model 27 is a double-action revolver, meaning that the pull of the trigger cocks the hammer, advances the cylinder, and drops the hammer to fire the gun. This distinguishes it from older revolver designs where the hammer had to be manually cocked.
The "Gun That Won the West," the Winchester 1873 is perhaps the most recognizable of the lever-action rifles popular in nineteenth-century America. Today, Winchester makes a variety of lever actions, including the 1873 Sporter in .357 Magnum. The Sporter features a walnut grip stock with a satin finish, a twenty-four inch octagonal barrel, and case hardening on the receiver. The rifle retains the 1873 semi-buckhorn rear sights and incorporates a gold dot bead front sight for long range shooting. The rifle is loaded through a right side gate and can store fourteen rounds of .357 Magnum ammunition in a tubular magazine running under the barrel. (Unfortunately, this probably drives state firearms laws, especially California rifles.)
